We had a group excursion to the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) to see the launch of Express Yourself: Romance was Born for Kids. It’s this exhibit themed on the work of Sydney fashion house Romance was Born and aimed to entertain kids with bright colours, Aussie children book-inspired imagery, arts and crafts … and multimedia.
We’d put together the interactive Magic Bush Billabong and we were out to see it in action (and decorate our faces, as it turned out). There’s nothing quite like seeing kids go nuts playing with something you built. They ran and scampered around. They chased frogs. They made ripples. They patrolled the edges for fish, some waited to see the little croc put in an appearance. Some just liked sitting in the virtual ponds.
It launched with The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier, so we also got to see the man himself, entourage in tow, come through and check it out and chat to both media and the kids. You might not be able to tell, but we had a great time.
