Description
Many Monkeys is an Australian independent game studio that explores places where games, interactive art spaces and roundabout shakespeare references meet. It’s more fun than a barrel of game devs.
History
The FoundingMany Monkeys was founded in 2012 by Matthew Ditton. This followed his work at Krome and Pandemic Studios, as well as a couple of years splitting his time between independent development and convening the Bachelor of Games Design degree at Griffith University.
Monkey BusinessMany Monkeys created the technology behind the Curious Creatures art installation for an Australian music festival, Splendour in the Grass, which then was invited to be shown at the Vryfees Festival in South Africa. Since then, projects have included the Future of Play, four-player, motion-controlled tennis for the ANZ Dome at the Australian Open as well as 13 displays for the Think Ahead Exhibition at Scienceworks Museum Victoria. Many Monkeys has worked on projects for the Museum of South Australia, a series of nightclub events, and the 19th International Symposium on Electronic Art. It secured funding for its first mass-market game, Breath of Light, in 2013.
